 The Napoleon Clock . . .

Picture

it features in Chapter 4 of Fly the Storm

"Madame Cazalet looked across the room to check her wristwatch against an ornate clock that dominated the mantelpiece. ‘This is another of my treasures, it’s a family heirloom. The eagle on top of the dial is the American national symbol and the Egyptian sphinxes on either side of the pendulum remind us of our glorious French Empire, now so sadly depleted"..

The picture shows the Napoleon Clock being overhauled

This former family heirloom has a curious history. Whoever stole it from my parents' house in the 1960s would be unaware of this, and I like to think that a reader  "somewhere out there" might recognise it.
